Police Department

The Elko Police Department was established in 1917 following the city's incorporation. At the point of its founding, the city employed only two police personnel. As of today, the Elko Police Department has expanded significantly, with a total of 56 staff members, comprising 45 sworn law enforcement officers and 11 civilian employees. The Elko Police Department jurisdiction covers 17.6 square miles and accommodates a population exceeding 20,000 residents. Our unwavering dedication is to safeguard our community and provide assistance to the residents and visitors of the City of Elko.
