The Storefront Improvement Grant

The Storefront Improvement Grant Program in the City of Elko is a valuable initiative that aims to enhance the visual appeal and overall aesthetics of eligible properties within the Redevelopment area. By providing financial support for property improvements, the Storefront Improvement Grant Program helps property owners and tenants contribute to the revitalization and beautification of the designated Redevelopment area, ultimately benefiting the entire community.

Funding Source: The program is funded through the City of Elko Redevelopment Agency (RDA). The RDA allocates funds to support property owners or tenants in their efforts to rehabilitate, conserve, and visually enhance eligible properties.

Eligible Properties: The program focuses on eligible properties located within the designated Redevelopment area. These properties may be commercial or residential,  and the program aims to improve their storefronts or visual appearance.

Scope of Assistance: Property owners or tenants can access financial assistance through the Storefront Improvement Grant Program. The program provides funding to support various aspects of property improvement, including rehabilitation, conservation, and beautification efforts.

Visual Enhancement: The primary goal of the program is to enhance the visual appeal of eligible properties. This can involve activities such as façade improvements, exterior painting, signage enhancements and other visual enhancements that contribute to the property's aesthetics.

Beautification: Beautification efforts may include initiatives to make the property and its surroundings more attractive and welcoming. This can encompass landscaping improvements, the installation of public art, or other enhancements that beautify the area.

Application Process: Property owners or tenants interested in participating in the Storefront Improvement Grant Program typically need to go through an application process. This process may involve submitting a proposal outlining the planned improvements and the associated costs.  Applications are accepted January 1 through March 31.

Community Impact: The program not only benefits individual property owners but also has a positive impact on the overall community. Improved storefronts and enhanced visual appeal can attract more customers, boost economic activity, and contribute to the revitalization of the designated Redevelopment area.

Alignment with Redevelopment Goals: The Storefront Improvement Grant Program aligns with the broader goals of the Redevelopment Agency, which seeks to revitalize and transform specific areas within the city.
