The Criminal Investigations Unit of the Elko Police Department primarily concentrates its efforts on major crimes committed within the City of Elko.  These investigations include, but are not limited to, crimes against both persons and property. Of the crimes investigated by the Detective Unit most are initiated by the Patrol Unit and are forwarded to Investigations for follow-up, however in addition, investigators initiate many criminal cases.  The Unit is currently updating its audio and visual equipment and conducts many investigations utilizing state of the art electronic equipment.
