Crisis Negotiations Unit

The Elko Crisis Negotiation Team is a specially trained unit of highly skilled crisis/hostage negotiators. The responsibility and goal of CNT is to  resolve crisis or hostage situations through a combined application of tactics and negotiations that will result in a peaceful resolution, all hostages rescued safely, all law enforcement personnel uninjured, and all suspects safely in custody

CNT is comprised of Elko Police Department and Elko County Sheriff's Office personnel. Each member is certified to an advanced negotiation standard.

While the unit is primarily utilized in Elko County, it also works with other county units such as Lander County and Humboldt County.
