The goal of the City of Elko Planning Commission is to identify long/short term planning projects for the upcoming year that will improve the overall long range development within the City.


On Going Projects

Continue with the update of Elko City Master Plan involving the refinement of existing components such as:

Continue with additional components to the Elko City Master Plan such as:

  • Public Facilities
  • Public Buildings

Annual Review and update to Land Use Inventory of property under the ownership of the City.

Provide planning support and assistance to the City of Elko Redevelopment Agency and the Redevelopment Agency Advisory Committee.

Continue to support future development phases of HARP (Humboldt Area River Project).

Continue with 8 Mile Creek/Mittry Park Project

Continue with the Elko Parkways, Open Space and Trails Sub-Committee and City of Elko Parks and Recreaion Board

Continue to develop and refine public information flyers in an effort to improve public service.

Continue joint annual meetings with the City Council and Elko County Planning Commission.

Zoning Ordinance Amendments

  • Review and possible amendment to RMH Zoning District, related to organization and standards of development.
  • Review and possible amendment to update Section 3-3-20 of the Zoning Ordinance pertaining to enforcement.
  • Review, examination and possible amendment to the Zoning Ordinance to establish design standards for accessory buildings.
  • Review and evaluation of temporary use permit provisions.
  • Review and possible amendment to the C (General Commercial) Zoning District concerning the remnant obsolete Planned Commercial sub-district section.
  • Review of the entire City of Elko Zoning Ordinance for update and revision.

 

Special Projects
  • Assist with long range Recreation Planning Process for the City of Elko.

  • Assist in the development of a strategic plan related to economic development, business and industrial recruitment, identification and reservation of prime land for future quality industrial growth and development.
