City
of Elko, Nevada, Building Department has for years maintained an environment
of both beauty and safety within the community of residential homes and
commercial buildings by strict compliance with the adopted building and
fire codes. Inspections of all new projects are mandatory, along with
any addition or remodel work done to existing buildings.
In
order for a new project to get under way, the owner is responsible for
retaining the services of a Nevada State registered Design Professional
and submitting the correct number of completed sets of plans to our office
along with the proper application pages filled out completely.
Construction
professionals are issued an Inspection Record card at the beginning of
their project with the City approved job site set of plans. These items
must be available on site during inspections. Prior to a building being
occupied, the building department and other applicable departments will
verify compliance of the approved codes and documents. A Certificate of
Occupancy is then issued by the Building Department upon completion of
the project prior to building occupancy.
Please

inspection. Inspection requests must be made the business day
before inspection is needed or called in and left on the voicemail
of the Building Department before 8:00 a.m. the day of. Any request
made after 8:00 a.m. will be scheduled the following business
day or a same day inspection fee of $47.00 must be paid to the
Building Department before the inspection will be scheduled. The
