Chapter 2-1 PLUMBING CODE
Section 2-1-3 PLUMBING CODE AMENDMENTS:
All plumbing construction work and the inspections thereof shall be in conformity with the
provisions of this Code and with the 2003 edition of the Uniform Pluming Code which is hereby
adopted by the City, with the following specific deletions and additions:
Chapter 1 is deleted in its entirety
Section 318.4 Test Requirements (Food Handling Establishments) is amended to
read as
follows:
318.4 Soil and drainpipes located above such areas shall be subjected to a standing
water test
of not less than ten (10) feet (3048 mm).
Section 402.7 Timing Devices is added to read as follows:
402.7 A toilet or urinal which employs a timing device or other mechanisms to
flush periodically
or which continually flushes shall not be installed.
Section 413 Minimum Number of Required Fixtures is deleted
in its entirety.
Table 4-1 Minimum Plumbing Facilities, Table 4-1 is deleted in its entirety. (Refer to the building
code for number of fixtures required.)
Section 604.1 Materials is amended by adding a new sentence to the end to
read as follows:
604.1 Water distribution pipe, building supply water
pipe, and fittings shall be of brass,
copper, cast iron, galvanized malleable iron, galvanized wrought iron, galvanized steel, or other
approved materials. Asbestos-cement, CPVC, PE, PVC or PEX water pipe manufactured to
recognized standards may be used for cold water distribution systems outside a building. CPVC,
PEX water pipe, tubing, and fittings manufactured to recognized standards may be used for hot
and cold water distribution systems within a building. All materials used in the water supply
system, except valves and similar devices, shall be of a like material, except where otherwise
approved by the Administrative Authority. Plastic piping shall be limited to buildings defined
as
combustible construction by this Code.
Subsection 701.1.2 Materials is deleted in its entirety and a new Subsection
701.1.2 is added to
read as follows:
701.1.2 Plastic piping used for drainage waste and vent
systems shall be limited to buildings
defined as combustible construction by the currently adopted Building Codes.
Section 704.3 Fixture Connections is amended to read as follows:
704.3 Pot sinks, scullery sinks, dishwashing sinks, silverware sinks, commercial
dishwashing
machines, silverware-washing machines and similar fixtures shall be indirectly connected to the
drainage systems by means of an air gap.
Section 707.9 Cleanouts is amended by adding a new sentence to the end to read
as follows:
707.9 Each cleanout,unless installed under an approved cover plate, shall be
above grade,
readily accessible, and so located as to serve the purpose for which it is intended. Cleanouts
located under cover plates shall be so installed as to provide the clearances and accessibility
required by this section. A cleanout shall be provided on every sewer connection serving all
structures, trailers or mobile homes, with said clean-out placed so as to fall outside the area
covered by the structure, trailer or mobile home.
Subsection 903.1.2 Materials is deleted in its entirety and a new subsection
903.1.2 is added to
read as follows:

defined as combustible construction by the currently adopted Building Codes.
Section 1101.3 Material Uses is deleted in its entirety and a new subsection
1101.3 is added to
read the following:

Section 1101.9 Filling Stations and Motor Vehicle Washing Establishments is amended
to read
as follows:
1101.9 Filling Stations and Motor Vehicle Washing Establishments. Public
filling stations and
motor vehicle washing establishments shall have the paved area sloped toward contained sumps
or gratings, which are not connected to the public sewer, within the property lines. Curbs not
less
than six (6) inches (152 mm) high shall be placed where required to direct water to gratings or
sumps.
Section 1101.10 Paved Areas is deleted in its entirety.
Section 1103.0 Traps on Storm Drains and Leaders is deleted in its entirety.
Section 1104.3 Combining Storm with Sanitary Drainage is deleted in its
entirety.
Section 1213.0 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Facilities and Piping is deleted in its entirety
and a new
section 1213.0 is added to read as follows:
1213.0 All LPG facilities and piping shall comply with NRS 590 and NFPA
54 and 58
requirements.
Chapter 13 Medical Gas Systems is deleted in its entirety and a new Chapter 13
is added to
read as follows:
Chapter 13 Requirements for medical gas shall comply
with NFPA Chapter 99 in its entirety.
Appendix J2 Definitions is deleted in its entirety and a new Appendix J2 is added to read
as
follows:
Reclaimed waste is water, which as a result of tertiary treatment of domestic
wastewater by a
public agency, is suitable for a direct beneficial use or a controlled use that would not otherwise
occur. The State of Nevada Department of Environmental Protection shall approve the level of
treatment and quality of the reclaimed water.
Appendix J10 Approved Uses of Reclaimed Water is deleted in its entirety and a new Appendix
J10 is added to read as follows:
Use of reclaimed water shall require approval of the Administrative Authority
and the officials
designated by the State of Nevada Department of Environmental Protection.
Appendix K Private Sewage Disposal Systems is deleted in its entirety.
Appendix L6.0 Special Venting of Fixtures is deleted in its entirety.
